The Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association is structured and governed as a non-profit corporation, with an Executive Committee (which functions as its Board of Directors) and an Executive Director (who functions as its Chief Executive Officer).
The Executive Committee consists of 12 elected member school representatives drawn equally from the organization's four regions (Central, Eastern, Northern, and Western) and serving staggered four-year terms. The Executive Committee's current bylaws are available for public review here.

The Executive Director is the chief executive officer of the VISAA and is primarily responsible for the implementation of the policies set by the Executive Committee. The Executive Director manages and directs the day-to-day business and operations of the VISAA, working directly with member schools, the Executive Committee, and other VISAA staff. The current Executive Director is Adam Brick.
