Governance of the VISAA

The Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association is structured and governed as a non-profit corporation, with a Board of Directors and an Executive Director who functions as its Chief Executive Officer.

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors consists of 15 elected member school representatives.  The Board is in the process of phasing in a conference-based representation system, with one member each from the thirteen VISAA-recognized athletic conferences, one member from a VISAA member school not a member of any conference ("Independents"), and one at-large member.  Board members served staggered three-year terms.  The Board's current bylaws are available for public review here.

Executive Director

The Executive Director is the chief executive officer of the VISAA and is primarily responsible for the implementation of the policies set by the Board of Directors.  The Executive Director manages and directs the day-to-day business and operations of VISAA, working directly with member schools, the Board, and other VISAA staff.  The current Executive Director is Adam Brick.
