The National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA) offers courses toward certification for athletic directors. The certifications pursued by VISAA athletic directors are usually Registered Athletic Administrator (RAA), Certificed Athletic Administrator (CAA), and Certified Master Athletic Administrator (CMAA). It is VISAA's practice to recognize these certifications by appending these abbreviations as a suffix when listing the names of those who have earned them.
