Another VISAA coach has received national recognition.

Jay Wood, longtime head coach of the St. Christopher's School soccer team, led the Saints to a sixth state championship this fall and earned state Coach of the Year honors.

In December, the organization United Soccer Coaches announced that Wood was also selected as their national Coach of the Year.  The organization recognizes coaches from public and private schools as well as collegiate and club coaches.  Wood was previously recognized as regional Coach of the Year and was included on a national ballot along with other regional award-winners.

It was Wood's third national Coach of the Year honor, having previously been selected in 2014 and 2016, also state championship years for the Saints.  United Soccer Coaches will host a ceremony at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, Pa., on January 16, 2026 to recognize Coach Wood and other honorees.  The event will be part of the organization's national convention.
